At the ECG Fall meeting held in Washington DC in December 2014, a special open session was organized by the independent Development Evaluation Offices of the African Development Bank (IDEV) and the Inter-American Development Bank (OVE) on "Climate Change and Green Growth: An Evaluation Perspective”.
Andrew Steer, CEO of the World Resources Institute, gave an inspiring presentation on the road traveled in responding to climate change, from the first meeting in Berlin (Germany), to the most recent climate change conference in Lima (Peru), and to the 2015 meeting in Paris (France).
Steer highlighted the role of Multilateral Development Banks in helping countries adapt to and mitigate climate change. Steer also talked about the role of evaluators, describing them both as sleuths and superheroes.
His presentation was followed by a discussion around these topics with Naoko Ishii, CEO of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Julie Katzman, Executive Vice-President of the IDB. The session was moderated by Rakesh Nangia, Evaluator-General, IDEV.
The recording of the session is available online.
